About the job
The Outpatient Pain Medicine department of the University Clinic for Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Inselspital, University Hospital Bern, treats complex acute and chronic pain syndromes within a structured biopsychosocial care concept. A central focus lies on evidence-based interventional pain therapy using ultrasound- and fluoroscopy-guided procedures. To further develop our interventional offerings, we are seeking a senior consultant with proven expertise in interventional pain medicine.
What to expect
- Independent performance of complex interventional pain therapies (US- and fluoroscopy-guided)
- Assuming professional daily responsibility in the outpatient setting and backup for inpatient acute pain medicine at weekends
- Supervision and training of assistant doctors
- Structured interdisciplinary case management within the biopsychosocial treatment concept
- Establishment and leadership of a specialised clinic according to your expertise as well as active participation in the strategic and conceptual development of outpatient pain medicine
- Optional involvement in clinical and translational research
Your profile
- Specialist in Anaesthesiology or equivalent training recognised in Switzerland
- SSIPM certificate in Interventional Pain Therapy or equivalent proven expertise
- At least two years of independent work in interventional pain medicine
- Extensive experience in fluoroscopy-guided spinal interventions (e.g. facet joints, periradicular therapies, sympathetic blocks, denervations)
- Confident use of ultrasound-guided nerve and fascial blocks
- Experience in organising an outpatient clinic or comparable leadership responsibility
- High structural, clinical and communicative competence
