Role:
On behalf of the client, we are seeking an experienced Design Architect for the conceptual and creative development of demanding architectural projects and competitions in the Zurich area. You will develop high-quality architectural concepts and designs from the initial idea through variant studies to detailed project development. You will work closely with interdisciplinary planning teams and combine design, construction, functionality, and sustainability into convincing overall solutions. The position offers a high level of creative influence on complex building projects within a professional architecture and general planning environment.
Responsibilities:
Development of high-quality architectural designs and concepts for complex building projects
Handling of architecture competitions, study commissions, and project developments from analysis to submission
Preparation of variant studies, usage concepts, volume and spatial studies as well as evaluation of different solution approaches
Further development of competition and concept designs in preliminary and construction project phases
Creation and coordination of floor plans, sections, elevations, visualisation and presentation materials
Integration of construction, materialisation, building services, and sustainability requirements into the architectural concept
Close collaboration with architects, specialist planners, and experts within interdisciplinary planning teams
Ensuring architectural and design quality in the further development of complex project content
Preparation and presentation of design concepts and decision-making bases for internal project teams, clients, and evaluation committees
Consideration of relevant SIA standards, building law frameworks, and project-specific requirements already during the design phase
Qualifications:
Completed architecture studies at ETH/FH/university or a comparable recognised higher education qualification
3-5 years of professional experience in Switzerland with a focus on architectural design and project development
Solid experience in architecture competitions, design, concept development, and preliminary project planning
Very good understanding of construction, materialisation, and structural implementation of demanding architecture
Confident use of common CAD, 3D, and presentation programmes in architectural design
Knowledge of relevant SIA standards and Swiss planning and approval processes
German language skills at least level C1; additional Swiss national languages and English are an advantage
