Job Description
We are looking for a Head Nurse for our Tertianum Le Pacific site located in Etoy (80 residents).
Your Responsibilities
Quality and Safety of Care
- Ensure safe and appropriate care for each resident: care plans, protocols, prevention of falls, pressure ulcers and medication errors.
- Supervise the assessment of care needs (PLAISIR) and their updates.
- Monitor quality indicators and ensure compliance with cantonal care regulations.
- Maintain the internal reporting procedure in case of abuse or dangerous care.
Care Team Management
- Supervise the two unit managers and, through them, the entire team.
- Ensure schedules comply with staffing levels and the Vaud Public Health Collective Labour Agreement.
- Recruit, integrate and train staff; conduct annual appraisals.
- Address absenteeism and team climate with attentiveness and rigour.
Management and Resources
- Monitor monthly staffing, use of replacements and temporary staff, and the care budget.
- Present these indicators at the monthly review with management, proposing corrective actions.
Coordination
- Work with attending physicians, pharmacy, hospitals and the network referring residents.
- Be the point of contact for families regarding care matters, including difficult situations.
- Collaborate with socio-cultural, hospitality and kitchen services (diets, textures, life projects).
Continuity and Projects
- Ensure clinical and operational continuity of the site in the director’s absence.
- Represent care in the residents’ life project approach.
- Work with the Head Nurse of La Gottaz to harmonise practices.
Your Profile
- Nursing diploma (Bachelor HES or ES), recognised in Switzerland; Swiss Red Cross recognition for foreign diplomas.
- Health management training (CAS or DAS in management, or equivalent), completed or in progress.
- Proven experience in managing a care team, ideally in nursing homes, geriatrics or psychogeriatrics.
- Proximate leadership: presence on site, listening skills, ability to unite and soothe while remaining demanding.
- Rigour in quality and safety, with good knowledge of Vaud cantonal requirements.
- Organised and methodical, comfortable with schedules, indicators and figures.
- Autonomous and responsible: you make decisions at your level and escalate problems with solutions.
- Clear and compassionate communication with families, doctors and teams.
- Tools: electronic care records (careCoach) and planning tools; Excel proficiency is an asset.
- Languages: fluent French; German is an asset.
Our Way of Working
- Decisions based on facts and figures.
- Weekly meeting with the director, monthly review of indicators.
- Wide autonomy with clear delegations.
- Resident and staff safety as the top priority.
What We Offer
- A key role at the heart of a human-scale residence, with garden, animals and a family-friendly model.
- Direct support from management and quality manager.
- A leading group in Switzerland, with career development prospects.
- Conditions according to the Vaud parapublic health sector Collective Labour Agreement.
