Geriatric psychiatry means combining medical excellence with foresight, humanity and scientific curiosity. At the University Psychiatric Centre (UPZ) Bern, you will actively shape geriatric psychiatry as a senior consultant or senior physician – professionally, structurally and in terms of content. You will take responsibility in clinical care, influence the further development of services and contribute your expertise in research, teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration. In a university environment with a high degree of freedom to shape your role, you will make a sustainable contribution to the care of older people with psychiatric illnesses and cognitive changes.
Your tasks
- You will medically lead a geriatric psychiatric ward (all clinical pictures) and actively shape the services
- You will treat patients with integrated psychiatric-psychotherapeutic care
- You will conduct geriatric psychiatric training and case supervisions within the interprofessional team
- You will lead and promote assistant doctors as well as the interprofessional team and participate in the clinical teaching of medical students
- You will network and coordinate care with adjacent psychiatric and somatic clinics and across sectors
- You will support research projects and, if interested and suitably qualified, develop your own scientific projects within the framework of a doctorate or habilitation
Your profile
- You have a specialist qualification in psychiatry, ideally with a focus on geriatric psychiatry, alternatively a specialist qualification in neurology, general internal medicine or a focus on geriatrics with corresponding clinical experience in psychiatry during your training period
- You have a completed medical degree recognised in Switzerland, the EU or EFTA (MEBEKO recognition)
- You are interested in neurocognitive disorders and geriatric medicine
- You enjoy working interprofessionally, are flexible and take pleasure in teamwork
- You act independently, proactively and in a structured manner
- You have command of the German language in spoken and written form at level C2
