About the job
University Clinic for Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
immediately or by arrangement
The University Clinic for Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy is a renowned university hospital in the field of mental health and research. In the outpatient sector, we offer, in addition to a general consultation, a variety of specialised clinics as well as group programmes. Diagnostic assessments, second opinions, and in individual cases, short-term therapies are conducted. For special indications, consultations are offered in collaboration with clinics and institutes of the Inselspital within the framework of established cooperations. Furthermore, the consultation and liaison service represents a central interface between psychiatry and somatic medicine. Our consultation medical team supports inpatient and outpatient treatment teams in somatic specialist areas in the diagnosis and therapy of mental illnesses. The holistic consideration of patients, close collaboration with other disciplines, and the development of individualised treatment strategies are paramount. Another important part of the consultation psychiatric activity is the co-care of the Inselspital security ward (BEWA), a unique institution in Switzerland within the justice system of the Canton of Bern. It serves the medical treatment of somatically and/or mentally ill or injured detainees of all types of custody, age groups, and genders, who for security reasons cannot be admitted to another hospital or for medical reasons cannot be treated in prison/correctional facility. In addition to clinical work in the aforementioned areas, we offer diverse opportunities for further education and research in these exciting and dynamic fields of work. As a recognised training centre, it is possible at the UPZ to acquire the specialisation in consultation and liaison psychiatry.
