In this role, you take technical responsibility for modern storage and data archiving platforms. As a Product Owner, you develop and operate a Ceph-based object storage infrastructure as well as an S3 Glacier-compatible archiving solution. Additionally, you support the operation of the block storage environment and continuously develop self-service offerings, automation, and operational processes.
Responsibilities:
Development, operation, and optimisation of the object storage infrastructure based on Ceph
Responsibility as Product Owner for an S3 Glacier-compatible data archiving solution
Support in the operation and monitoring of the block storage infrastructure based on NetApp ONTAP
Design and implementation of modern self-service offerings for S3-compatible storage
Ensuring stable, secure, and scalable operation of the storage platforms
Advising employees and students on the use and integration of S3 storage
Establishing best practices for data retention, access concepts, and lifecycle management
Automation of operational processes and further development of platform components using Infrastructure as Code
Evaluation of new technologies and standards as well as their integration into the existing IT landscape
Qualifications:
Education in computer science, data engineering, system engineering, or a comparable field
Experience in building, operating, or further developing data platforms, storage solutions, or infrastructure services
Solid knowledge of storage architectures at hardware and software levels
Practical experience with Ceph or comparable distributed storage systems as well as S3/object storage
Knowledge in automation, APIs, monitoring, and Infrastructure as Code
Experience with technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, or GitLab CI/CD is an advantage
Strong consulting and communication skills
Fluent German skills as well as good English skills in a technical environment
