Co-Management Custodial Services 80 - 100%Custodial Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and employs around 1,400 people with diverse professional profiles. JuWe is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For JuWe employees, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
As part of the Zurich Remand Prisons (UGZ), Zurich West Prison (GZW) is located in the Police and Justice Centre Zurich and has 241 detention places. It specialises in provisional detention and remand custody and plays a central role in the admission and initial care of detainees.
For the remand custody department of GZW, we are looking for a motivated and future-oriented co-custodial manager with a modern organisational understanding.
This is your field of activity
- In this co-management role, you are responsible for the professional and organisational management of the custodial area with around 44 employees
- You ensure a lawful, dignified and orderly penal system, including compliance with detention forms and the fulfilment of the duty of care towards detainees
- You are the central contact person for the concerns of detainees and take on administrative tasks to optimise processes and ensure appropriate employment offers
- You ensure compliance with disciplinary regulations, coordinate actions in emergency situations, are responsible for reporting and actively participate in disciplinary matters
- You work closely with the interprofessional care team (supervision/support, work operations, medical and psychiatric services, social services, administration) to solve complex cases and support sustainable decisions in the sense of development-oriented remand custody
- You are responsible for the professional training and further education of the team, actively participate in the training of new employees and support projects as well as strategic tasks of the management
- In addition, you are prepared to perform on-call duties (night, public holidays and weekends)
What you bring with you
- You have a Swiss federal certificate of competence or an equivalent qualification as well as further training as a specialist in custodial services.
- You have at least 5 years of professional experience, including 3 years in custodial services or a comparable field
- You have very good German skills and can use at least one foreign language well orally. In addition, you are confident in using MS Office
- You are highly resilient, flexible and willing to work shift, night and weekend duties in exceptional cases. You act resiliently and calmly in a demanding environment
- You have a positive attitude and an open view of humanity as well as the willingness to shape a resource-oriented remand custody
- In addition, you have an impeccable reputation
