Vehicle and Maintenance Specialist

The Swiss Federal Railways Historical Heritage Foundation (SBB Historic) preserves the rich and successful history of the Swiss railway country. Our tasks include, on the one hand, collecting, preserving, conserving, documenting, and archiving contemporary witnesses of Swiss railway history. On the other hand, we make these valuable witnesses of Swiss cultural and economic history accessible to the public – among other things, by offering experience rides and railway adventures with our extensive historic vehicle fleet.

Your tasks

• Carrying out demanding maintenance and repair work on our historic vehicles, including overhaul work on vehicles or components
• Troubleshooting and rectification
• Planning and implementing preventive maintenance measures on the vehicles
• Supporting the development and maintenance of the necessary technical documentation for maintenance
• Accompanying journeys as an onboard mechanic

Your profile

• Technical basic training as a diagnostician, mechanic, electrician, or similar
• Good technical railway know-how
• Good knowledge of the processes for maintaining rail vehicles
• Knowledge of or willingness to familiarise yourself with ECM topics related to rail vehicle maintenance
• Independent working style with a balanced awareness of quality and safety
• Team spirit and willingness for occasional nationwide assignments
• Affinity for carpentry work is an additional plus
