The Swiss Refugee Aid Organisation (OSAR) is the main organisation providing assistance to refugees in Switzerland and the umbrella organisation for aid agencies and organisations for refugees. OSAR defends the rights of people seeking protection and promotes understanding of their situation. Thanks to its expertise, it shapes public discourse and influences social and political conditions. The Training department organises practical training events, awareness-raising activities, and conferences for adults and young people throughout Switzerland. It offers a unique programme combining testimonies and skills from staff members who have experienced exile, the training team, and asylum specialists.
We are looking for a
Training Manager (80–90%), Member of the Executive Board Possibility of co-management Bern / Lausanne (100%)
for a position starting from 1 February 2027 or by agreement.
In this exciting and strategic leadership role, you will actively participate in key decisions shaping the future of the Swiss Refugee Aid Organisation (OSAR) and represent its training work at the national level. Together with your team, you will design programmes that raise public awareness, impart knowledge, develop skills, bring together perspectives, and contribute significantly to informing the public for a society based on solidarity and free from discrimination.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- the financial, strategic, and conceptual management of the department;
- personnel management and development of the bilingual French-German training team, consisting of nine people at the Bern and Lausanne sites, as well as 35 colleagues who have experienced exile;
- innovative, targeted, and needs-based development of the training portfolio and promotion of the offerings;
- quality assurance (eduQua);
- strategic and organisational management and development of OSAR as a member of the executive board.
We are seeking a committed, enterprising personality with a proactive attitude who also meets the following criteria:
- a master’s degree or equivalent higher education qualification and several years of professional experience in adult or youth education;
- experience in managing and leading a team according to agile principles;
- excellent strategic and analytical skills;
- knowledge of the Swiss asylum sector and/or human rights;
- competencies in transculturality, diversity management, and anti-discrimination.
You have a team spirit and can work independently. You communicate openly and convincingly in two national languages (German/French). You handle stress well and demonstrate flexibility.
