About the job
Tinsmith work. Flat roof. Quotes. Customers. Responsibility.
You don’t just know construction sites by hearsay. You understand what a well-planned flat roof means, why tinsmith work is not just "a sheet of metal" and why a quote must be more than just a number with a Swiss franc sign behind it.
Our client is an established company in north-west Switzerland, active in the fields of tinsmith work, flat roofs, green roofs, safety systems and lightning protection systems. We are looking for a person who wants to take the step into the office but does not leave the craft behind, instead bringing this knowledge into consulting, estimating and customer service in the future.
This is not a position for someone who just wants to fill out forms. It is a role for someone who understands technical contexts, thinks numbers through carefully, takes customers seriously and enjoys turning enquiries into concrete orders.
We are therefore looking immediately or by arrangement for a
Estimator 100% Flat Roofs - with your calculations, the project won’t fall flat...
Your task:
- You advise and support customers from architecture, planning, building owners and related fields. You listen carefully, ask the right questions and recognise what matters technically and economically
- You prepare quotes and estimates, check documents, clarify details and ensure that an enquiry becomes a well-thought-out offer. You operate at the interface between craft, technology, organisation and sales
- An important part of your role is also winning orders. Not with bold slogans, but with reliability, expertise, thorough preparation and a professional appearance
- You actively maintain existing customer contacts and build new relationships with common sense and perseverance
What you bring
- You have completed an apprenticeship as a tinsmith, polybuilder or a comparable training in a craft-technical environment. It is crucial that you understand the industry and know how construction is thought, planned and carried out
- Further training as a foreman, technical clerk or master craftsman is an advantage but not essential. More important are reliability, careful work, willingness to learn and the desire to familiarise yourself with an exciting office role
- You enjoy working in a team but can also take responsibility independently. You like clear processes, remain calm even with several open quotes and bring a healthy dose of groundedness
What to expect
- Our client offers you an entry into a versatile office role with a strong practical connection. You work in a small, young team with an uncomplicated atmosphere and receive patient, thorough induction
- You take on a role where you can think along, help shape and work independently. At the same time, you stay close to the industry, the customers and concrete construction projects. Those coming from the craft who want to plan, estimate, advise and organise more in the future will find a very interesting development opportunity here
Because you are not simply "switching to the office" here. You bring your craft knowledge to where orders are generated, prices calculated, customers convinced and projects prepared. You will not be left alone overnight. You will be trained. You are allowed to learn. You are allowed to ask questions. And you may grow step by step into a role that combines technical understanding, commercial thinking and enjoyment of customer contact.
