Senior Consultant Anaesthetist (80-100%) - Entry after Specialist Qualification

You have obtained your specialist qualification in anaesthesiology - and now wish to further develop? Are you looking for a clinical environment where you can encounter more complex cases, take on additional responsibility, and gradually build your own professional focus?

In this large acute and central hospital, you can expect far more than routine anaesthesiology. You will care for patients from a broad surgical and interventional spectrum, work in demanding acute and emergency situations, and gain insight into emergency and pain medicine.

This position is particularly suitable for specialists who do not want to stop after their qualification. Previous senior consultant experience is not necessarily required: what matters is a broad clinical foundation, professional ambition, and the willingness to actively develop further.

In addition to regional basic care, the hospital also provides specialised centre services for the entire eastern Switzerland. Anaesthesiology is organised across locations and supports patients in the operating theatre, during diagnostic and interventional procedures, in emergency services, as well as in acute and chronic pain medicine.

As a university teaching and research hospital, the institution combines clinical care with education and training, teaching, and scientific projects. If interested, there is the opportunity to participate in research projects and publications. However, a scientific career is not a prerequisite.

Your responsibilities:

• Independent administration of general and regional anaesthesia for planned, complex, and emergency procedures
• Anaesthesiological care of patients before, during, and after surgical and interventional treatments
• Gradual assumption of senior consultant responsibilities in clinical routine
• Professional guidance and supervision of junior doctors according to your experience
• Close collaboration with surgical disciplines, nursing, and other medical specialties
• Opportunity to work in emergency and pain medicine
• Participation in internal training, case discussions, and the development of clinical standards
• If interested, involvement in scientific projects and publications
• Participation in the clinic’s duty roster

Your competencies:

• Specialist qualification in anaesthesiology, recognised in Germany or the EU; support with recognition in Switzerland through Medimeo
• The specialist qualification may have been obtained recently; previous senior consultant experience is not required
• Solid experience in general and regional anaesthesia
• Motivation to engage with more complex anaesthesiological issues
• Interest in professional specialisation, teaching, emergency or pain medicine
• Scientific interest is welcome but not a requirement
• Enjoyment in further training and mentoring younger colleagues
• Responsible, eager to learn, and team-oriented personality
• Very good German language skills, spoken and written
