Job Description
As part of the temporary strengthening of our team, we are looking for a future agricultural workshop manager within the Établissements de la plaine de l'Orbe (EPO), on a fixed-term contract of one year. In this role, you will support detainees in their daily work by covering for the permanent workshop managers in the various agricultural workshops. You will thus contribute to the continuity of activities while ensuring compliance with production, safety, and supervision objectives.
You will pass on your knowledge to them, enabling them to develop new social and professional skills, thereby helping to promote their reintegration. Through your commitment, you contribute to the protection of the public by ensuring the supervision and monitoring of detainees.
You will be responsible for the care of animals and crops, ensuring animal welfare as well as strict compliance with the animal protection law and guidelines regarding the use of veterinary products. You will also be involved in mill activities, including drying and storing cereals from internal production and preparing feed mixes for the estate's animals.

Responsibilities
- Train and supervise detainees in the agricultural workshops where you provide cover;
- Take charge of animals (cattle, poultry, pigs) and crop work based on instructions from the sector manager, respecting legal hygiene and occupational safety standards;
- Ensure animal welfare and the application of guidelines concerning the use of veterinary products and strictly apply the Animal Protection Act;
- Supervise, secure, and monitor detainees working in the workshop and maintain discipline;
- Prepare behaviour reports and regular assessments of the skills and progress of those supervised and collaborate with stakeholders from various sectors (social, security, professional, etc.) to ensure appropriate care of detainees.

Qualifications
- Holder of a Federal VET Diploma (CFC), ideally in an agricultural profession;
- Federal certificate as a detention officer or commitment to obtain it during employment;
- Experience in agriculture is an asset and/or at least 10 years of professional experience;
- Comfortable managing a group and able to motivate teams;
- Good mental and physical aptitude to handle sometimes difficult situations or conflicts while maintaining appropriate professional distance;
- Ability to manage stress;
- Good pedagogical skills, strong emotional control, and open-mindedness;
- Holder of a driving licence;
- Strong observation, analytical, and synthesis skills.
Our employment conditions require you to be Swiss or hold a C permit, be free of debt enforcement proceedings (an extract from the Debt Enforcement Office must be presented during the process), and have a clean criminal record. There is a right to consult the criminal record in accordance with the Federal Act on the Criminal Record by the hiring authority for this position.
