The Laboratory of Sustainability Robotics (LSR) is a world-leading group with a research focus on the development of novel, biologically inspired flying robots for distributed sensing in air and water and autonomous robotic construction for digital infrastructure systems. The lab is based on a jointly funded Professorship by Empa and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) and specialises in robot design, hardware development and multi-modal robot mobility and has an aligned Competence Centre for Sustainability Robotics (CCSR) .
Your tasks
In this versatile hub function, you will take on central administrative and coordinative tasks around the LSR and the CCSR:
- You organise the administration of the laboratory and support the head as well as the group leaders and programme manager in day-to-day business
- You manage the department budget and oversee research projects in SAP, including project controlling and administration
- You coordinate the preparation of financial reports and are the contact person for ordering, contracting and invoicing
- As a superuser, you support SAP and the department’s time recording system
- You maintain and update databases (publications, conferences, projects, contracts, addresses) and coordinate archiving
- You are responsible for public relations and manage the laboratory’s social media channels
- You update the laboratory’s websites and project-related platforms
- You organise travel, meetings and events/conferences
- You check and correct time recording data
- You accompany new employees as well as international (guest) scientists with administrative matters
- You take on administrative leadership and interaction with external and internal partners (stakeholder management) including email administration
Your profile
- Commercial basic training, ideally with vocational baccalaureate or school-leaving certificate, as well as several years of experience in a demanding administrative role
- Experience in the higher education environment (ETH/university) is a plus
- Strong social skills, ability to work in a team, flexibility and a service-oriented attitude
- Flair for numbers as well as very good organisational and coordinative skills
- Independent, structured and proactive working style, especially in an agile environment
- Very good German and English skills (spoken and written, at least level C1), further languages are an advantage
- Confident handling of MS Office, SAP and internet applications, knowledge of image editing programmes is desirable

Due to the growth of the department, there are very good chances of permanent employment.
