For our Headquarter in Ecublens, we are looking for a:
Mission :
As our Machine Safety Specialist, you will be the in-house and customer-facing expert for machine and process related risk management. You will lead Health & Safety Risk Assessments (HSRA) and ensure our tailor-made installations for the Pharma, Food and Chemical sectors fully comply with European and international legislation (Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and upcoming Regulation 2023/1230, Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU, ATEX 2014/34/EU, etc.) as well as relevant ISO/EN standards. Working inside the TPS department, you will advise Sales, Design, Manufacturing and Validation teams and support customers during HAZOP, FAT and SAT activities.
Your role :
- Risk Assessment & CE Conformity:
o Lead HSRAs from concept through hand-over; identify hazards, define risk-reduction measures, and collaborate to the technical file.
o Support the conformity assessment procedures for Machinery, PED and ATEX directives, including coordination with Notified Bodies when required.
- Technical Consulting & Design Support:
o Advise multidisciplinary project teams on safe-by-design principles, functional-safety architectures (ISO 13849-1/-2, IEC 62061, SIL/PL), and ergonomic requirements.
o Review P&IDs, electrical schematics and control software to verify implementation of safety functions.
- Customer & Regulatory Interface:
o Act as primary point of contact for clients on machine-safety topics; provide on-site support during FAT/SAT, IQ/OQ, and regulatory audits.
o Prepare and deliver customer training on safe operation and maintenance of the installations.
- Continuous Improvement & Governance:
o Track upcoming legislation (e.g., EU Machinery Regulation transition, UKCA) and update internal procedures.
o Lead incident / near-miss investigations related to machinery safety and feed lessons learned back into design guidelines. Mentor colleagues; develop internal checklists, templates and e-learning modules.
- Global Coordination & Support:
o Coordinate activities of Machine Safety Specialists across Dec subsidiaries to ensure consistent implementation of safety standards and effective local support for project teams.
Your profile :
- B.Sc. or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation Engineering or related discipline
- More than 3 years in machine-/process-safety within Pharma, Food, Chemical or similar regulated industries.
- Fluent English (spoken & written)
