Role:
On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced leader as Head of Civil Engineering Execution for an established Swiss construction company. You will take over the operational management of the civil engineering division and, together with the division and project managers, be responsible for the successful execution of demanding civil and infrastructure construction projects from contract award to project completion. The focus is on project management, budget and cost control, quality, occupational safety, as well as the technical and personnel leadership of the organisation. The position combines operational responsibility with entrepreneurial management and the further development of the various civil engineering departments.
Responsibilities:
Operational and personnel management of the civil engineering division as well as management of the associated specialist departments and project organisation
Overall responsibility for the execution of demanding civil and infrastructure construction projects from contract award to project completion
Leadership, support, and development of division, project, and site managers as well as other specialist and management staff
Ensuring professional project planning, work preparation (AVOR), resource planning, and project management
Monitoring of budgets, costs, site results, and profitability at project and division level
Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and execution standards as well as relevant legal and technical requirements
Management of deadlines, personnel, machinery, materials, and subcontractors for the economical execution of construction projects
Conducting regular project and performance reviews and initiating appropriate measures in case of deviations
Responsibility for change order management, performance control, and project controlling in complex civil engineering projects
Communication and negotiation with clients, authorities, engineering offices, joint venture partners, and other stakeholders
Further development of processes, standards, digitalisation, and ERP-supported workflows within the civil engineering organisation
Participation in the strategic and economic further development of the civil engineering division
Qualifications:
Further education as a federally certified master builder, experienced site managers with business management training or degree as a civil engineer FH/ETH
Many years of practical experience in civil and infrastructure construction as well as in managing complex construction projects
Several years of technical and personnel leadership experience within a construction company
Sound knowledge in project management, AVOR, costing, cost control, and change order management
Good knowledge of Swiss SIA standards, contract and execution processes, and occupational safety regulations
Very good user knowledge of Microsoft 365 and ERP systems, experience with Abacus is an advantage
Confident German language skills for negotiations, project management, and technical documentation
