The Primary Care Medicine Service, attached to the Department of Community and Primary Care Medicine, provides outpatient care for adult patients under primary care medicine. This service also offers outpatient emergency medical services to the population. As part of the HUG's public service missions, it provides access to care for disadvantaged populations due to their age, social, economic, legal status (asylum seekers, those subject to non-admission, undocumented, prisoners), or lifestyle habits; if necessary, the Primary Care Medicine Service also ensures continuity of their care.
The Patient Therapeutic Education Unit (PTEU) cares for people living with obesity or diabetes. As a reference centre of the HUG, the unit:
offers individualised weight loss programmes of varying durations, incorporating the different treatments available against obesity;
prescribes and supervises anti-obesity drug treatments and ensures long-term follow-up of people with obesity;
provides adapted and personalised therapeutic education to diabetic patients through specific and personalised programmes.
Thanks to its partnerships with various institutions and international organisations, it promotes an interdisciplinary approach to obesity and diabetes, while highlighting the expertise of the HUG and engaging it in actions with an international scope.
As part of the reception and medical secretarial activities of the PTEU, you will ensure the physical and telephone reception of patients, as well as managing information requests, mail, and email correspondence. You will manage medical schedules and the booking of consultations, outpatient days, and various therapeutic programmes using dedicated tools. You will follow up on appointments, keep schedules up to date, and inform patients of any organisational changes.
In collaboration with a coordinating nurse of the team, you will manage the patient flow within the unit.
You will also participate in the administrative management of patient files, including updating their contact details and insurance coverage, processing and digitising medical documents, and integrating information into the electronic patient record. You will send various correspondence to patients, treating physicians, pharmacies, and other care partners.
Finally, you will contribute to the smooth running of the unit by performing certain administrative support tasks.
Qualifications
You hold a Federal VET Diploma as a commercial employee, a medical secretary diploma, or an equivalent qualification.
Autonomous, you have proven experience in a versatile secretarial role.
You have a perfect command of medical terminology and a proven ability to manage multiple schedules.
Comfortable with IT, you have an ECDL Advanced level for Word or are willing to undertake the training.
With excellent organisational skills and effective priority management, rigorous, reliable, discreet, and comfortable welcoming and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, you also possess very good communication skills, mainly by telephone, and have a high resistance to stress.
Finally, you are a flexible and motivated person eager to work within a multidisciplinary team.
