What you can look forward to.
As a train traffic controller, you keep an eye on the assigned route network, directing and monitoring the trains at your workstation with around eight screens. In normal operation, you observe the traffic, control the processes and thus ensure a smooth operation. In case of disruptions, you take over operational management: you analyse the situation, initiate measures and resolve the disruption so that normal conditions are restored as quickly as possible. In doing so, you share responsibility for Switzerland's mobility. Without you, the network comes to a standstill. The job is system-relevant and immediately effective: you coordinate people and technology, make quick decisions and thus make a direct contribution to the safety and reliability of rail traffic. We offer you a paid retraining to become a train traffic controller, which lasts eight months. After successfully passing the final exam, you will work in the operations centre at Zurich Airport or the Limmattal marshalling yard and help ensure that 9,000 passenger and 2,000 freight trains reach their destinations safely and punctually every day. Learn more about the job profile at the next information event . You see irregular working hours and shift work as an advantage to enjoy your free time while others work. Night and Sunday work are additionally compensated with us, e.g. with an hourly wage supplement of 16 francs for Sunday work. For night shifts, you receive time bonuses of 10 to 30%, which gives you more free time. Benefits such as a free GA travelcard, discounted travel abroad – also for the family – can be found on our website under Benefits. Possible start dates:
- 1 March 2027
- 1 July 2027
- 1 November 2027
