This is what you can look forward to.
At SBB Cargo, you are at the heart of the Swiss economy. SBB Cargo transports 185,000 tonnes daily, relieving the roads of 15,000 lorry journeys each day and the environment by 460,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. You contribute to ensuring our customers are served reliably and punctually. An exciting working environment awaits you, where you move Switzerland together with your team colleagues. Attractive working conditions are important to us, which is why you receive full pay during your training. Night and weekend work is additionally compensated – for example, 6 francs per hour for night work. For night shifts, you also receive time bonuses between 10 and 30%. This means you have more free time than employees without night and weekend shifts. You can develop internally, for example by completing training as a shunting specialist or shunting locomotive driver.
This is what you do.
- You carry out shunting movements by moving, assembling and disassembling freight trains and wagons.
- Your daily tasks include coupling and uncoupling locomotives and freight wagons as well as performing brake tests.
- You prepare freight trains for departure and ensure that parked vehicles in the track area are secured.
- In your daily work, you use various tools such as radios and tablets to complete your tasks efficiently.
This is what you bring with you.
- Your awareness of safety means it is natural for you to work according to regulations.
- For this demanding work in a 24-hour shift system, you are physically fit and enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ideally, you have completed basic training or already have professional experience in a manual, logistical or comparable field.
- You have good spoken German skills (at least level B1).
- You have perfect colour vision (no red/green colour blindness). During the application process, we will require a current extract from the criminal record and debt enforcement register (not older than 3 months). The document can be ordered when invited for a personal interview.
