As a hands-on team lead, you will be part of a friendly, cross-functional product team with a product manager and several T-shaped full-stack engineers. Together, you share responsibility and develop scalable solutions with real impact for our customers and central processes in the company.
- You bring curiosity, team spirit, and willingness to learn and shape not only the implementation but also architecture, quality, and the question of what should actually be built
- You work in variations of Scrum or Kanban. Engineers also roll up their sleeves in refinement and actively contribute to architecture and product questions
- You can expect a lot of creative freedom and the chance to shape the culture in the team and achieve impact beyond team boundaries
- At the same time, there is enough legacy, complexity, and grown structures to really make a difference with resilience and a clear view and to improve systems step by step
What you bring
We match if you
- Have several years of leadership experience in cross-functional product teams - ideally in distributed systems in e-commerce or similar domains
- Have effectively established concepts such as psychological safety, OKRs, situational leadership, and an open feedback culture in practice
- Understand yourself as a servant leader and actively exemplify a growth-oriented feedback culture
- Tackle complex topics with perseverance and resilience and are perceived as an optimistic and motivating beacon even in difficult times
- Work closely with product managers, really want to understand problems, and think from the user and business perspective
- Value true agility, short iterations, fast learning, and data-informed decisions
- Are a strong advocate of "You build it, you own it" and have experience in environments where releases happen multiple times daily with CI/CD
- Do not see concepts like DDD, Hexagonal Architecture, Event-Driven Architecture, SOLID, Feature Flags, automated testing, or Dependency Injection as buzzwords but as tools you use pragmatically
- Enjoy pair programming, whiteboard sessions, and code reviews
- Shape a strong team culture with your warm personality, appreciative communication, and a good dose of humor
We probably don't fit well together if you
- Prefer frameworks like SAFe or projects that start with a requirements specification
- Have mainly worked in highly regulated areas without experience in a fast-paced, product-oriented environment with distributed systems
- Feel more comfortable with role models where infrastructure, backend, frontend, testing, and product thinking are clearly separated
- Take over requirements fully formulated instead of sharpening them together with product management and really understanding customers
- See further education mainly as the employer's responsibility and do not learn further out of your own interest, whether "on the job," outside at an evening event, or simply by reading a book
- Are more frustrated than motivated by imperfect systems - spoiler: we are not there yet
