The role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Contribute to the development of hedging strategy. Execute, monitor, and analyse hedging decisions.
  • Generate additional indirect margin through the optimisation of transaction flow and management of associated risk
  • Manage the short-term balancing of the IP UK portfolio according to prescribed procedures and respect delegated risk limits.
  • Monitor risk limits including daily volume and P&L validation.
  • Analyse market trends and provide regular updates to IP EM UK management.
  • Assist with the development of new products and provide support to Sales and Commercial teams for tender submissions.
  • Generate gas and power forward price curves for commodity pricing of new sales and renewals.
  • Participate in energy industry trade events and seminars.

To be a success in this role, you will need:

  • 3+ years of commercial experience in an energy trading role or trading related role with exposure to energy markets
  • Confident personality with the ability to effectively interact with other teams (Trading, Pricing, etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of risk management in the energy markets
  • Performance-minded, well organised and capacity to work under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, knowledge of Python
  • University degree qualification in a quantitative subject is preferred
  • Fluency in English is essential

Kontext & Umgebung

The Hedging & Optimisation Analyst will assist with the management of gas and power wholesale market risk for the IP UK portfolio and assist with the execution and management of customer wholesale market transactions

The role is based in Geneva, Switzerland. The job holder is required to operate in a high pressure environment consisting of monitoring and collating real time energy market information and prices. It involves devising strategies for the hedging of energy contracts of material financial value with direct P&L impact. The job holder is also required to interact heavily with other teams including Trading, Sales, Commercial, Middle Office and Back Office functions
