Assistant Risk and Control Manager, HSBC Fintech

With a reporting line to Senior Risk & Control Manager as the member of Business Control team, this position, as a specialist individual contributor, will engage with all 3 line of defenses internally and regulator externally and assist Head of Business Control to ensure the consistent and effective implementation of the risk and control strategy as set out in the HSBC Operational Risk Management Framework and other related Group and Local policies, and to assist the maintenance of an effective risk and control environment and execution of Business Control activities for PINF and its service recipients, (incl. INSH, PINB).

 

This position will be mainly tasked to provide services of RCA (Risk and Control Assessment), thematic control checking or testing, internal/external event review, issues and actions management, 1st line governance forum supporting, 1st line Risk and Control MI, support to risk management related initiatives, and other 1st line risk and control responsibilities assigned by team leader, to both PINF and its service recipients, (incl. INSH, PINB).

 

This role will engage with all 1st Line teams, 2nd line of defense and 3rd line of Defense at the direction of the Head of Business Control or team leader.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

·         Participant in risk assessment process by conducting and refreshing RCA assessments.

·         Drive the building of appropriate operational controls based on risk assessments to ensure that the Group’s non-financial Risk Framework and local regulatory requirements are fully adhered to.

·         Identifying emerging risk issues and associated controls through control monitoring activity and provide guidance on remediation of issues identified, and monitor timely resolutions of issues and actions on a regular basis.

·         To identify and document internal event, carry out impact and root cause analysis, and monitor event mitigation action status and implement mechanism to ensure operational losses and internal events are promptly reported and escalated with remedial action plans.

·         To contribute to the delivery of the assurance of non-financial operational risk end-to-end and associated controls within 1LOD and implementing the control monitoring plan to assess the control effectiveness on the key processes including thematic reviews.

·         Acting as risk and control subject matter expert (SME) by providing guidance to risk owner and control owner in developing their RCAs based on the Non-Financial Risk Framework where material risks and key controls are identified and assessed, taking into consideration recent incidents, red/amber key indicators, audit findings, regulatory changes/findings, the changes in processes, emerging risks or threats, new products/services, etc.

·         Building and maintaining strong, professional relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g. business, 2LOD etc.), promoting and demonstrating the value and effectiveness of Business Control.

·        To complete other tasks, e.g. internal or external reports, assigned by Head of Business Control or team leader.
