To drive our continuous organic growth, we are constantly looking for highly qualified professionals. To strengthen our team in the Global IT department, we are looking for a dedicated Engineering IT Lead (f/m/d), 100%.
The Engineering IT Lead is responsible for managing the IT systems landscape that supports Bachem's Engineering business units globally. This includes ownership and strategic oversight of systems related to Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), Common Data Environments (CDE), and project collaboration tools (e.g., scheduling, documentation, resource planning and coordination platforms). This role ensures these systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business needs while enabling engineering excellence and innovation across the organization.
Your tasks:
- System Ownership:
- Serve as the system owner for Engineering IT platforms, ensuring operational reliability, security as well as performance across CAE, CDE and engineering project tools.
- Oversee the lifecycle management of engineering systems, including deployment, maintenance, upgrades and vendor support.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance and security policies.
- Monitor usage and performance, proactively identifying and implementing optimizations.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate closely with Engineering leadership and cross-functional departments to understand business needs and translate them into scalable IT solutions.
- Act as the primary liaison between Engineering and IT, facilitating clear communication and expectation management.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency on systems roadmap, performance and improvement initiatives.
- Project & Change Management:
- Lead IT projects focused on the implementation and evolution of engineering systems and tools.
- Define project scope, timelines, deliverables and resources in alignment with Engineering stakeholders.
- Coordinate internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Track and report on project progress, manage risks and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Drive digitalization and continuous improvement in the engineering systems landscape.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to support evolving engineering practices.
- Benchmark best practices and emerging trends to keep systems and workflows modern and competitive.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure that all engineering systems are properly documented and meet internal IT governance and data integrity standards.
- Maintain robust documentation for system architecture, configurations and project execution.
Your profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing IT systems and leading projects within an engineering or technical environment.
- Proven experience with engineering systems such as CAE platforms (e.g. AutoCAD, Aveva, Bentley, Siemens), CDEs (e.g. BIM 360, Aveva, big, Dalux Box...) and project collaboration tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera, SharePoint...)
- Strong project management skills
- Experience with IT Service Management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
- Analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex technical challenges.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively with global, cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in English required; German is a plus.
