We are recruiting for our client a Finance Assistant immediately available for an initial 6-month assignment.

Our client is a major non-profit organization located in Geneva.
Description
The Finance assistant will perform the following principal duties:
- Receive and process financial data and correspondence ensuring completeness of information and conformity with financial regulations and rules as well as with anti-fraud policies and procedures; follow-up on missing/incomplete/inaccurate information
- Calculate, verify, enter and process payments and vouchers as well as any reimbursements due
- Facilitate matching of accounting documents and related records
- Verify and process associated account positionings for the department
- Participate as needed in testing/upgrading of systems
- Ensure proper maintenance of accounting records; collate and compile financial and statistical information to reflect financial and/or transactional activities within the accounts payable domain
- Perform accounts reconciliation such as general ledger, suspense, and petty cash accounts
- Review obligations and expenditures, identify anomalies, take necessary corrective action and report discrepancies to supervisor
- Identify and correct errors in data entry or accounting operations
- Examine client queries and provide explanations in a timely manner, forwarding disputed, complex or unusual cases to the supervisor
- Draft correspondence to clarify discrepancies, obtain explanations and provide information on the financial rules and regulations
- Perform other related duties as required including backing up other staff members of the department
Profile
The Finance assistant we are looking for will bring the following background and experience:
- A degree in Finance or Accounting
- At least three years of accounting or finance-related work experience
- Experience working with an ERP system
- Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English, knowledge of French would be a plus
- Good knowledge of accounting and financial principles, procedures and systems
- Ability to understand, interpret, work within and communicate applicable accounting and financial rules, regulations and procedures
- Ability to prioritize work assignments, organize own schedule, perform work independently as well as work effectively in a team and meet deadlines
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to tactfully deal with clients and respond to queries both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnership
Job Offer
Option to work remotely up to 2 days a week.
