Embedded Software Engineer - Safety-Critical Systems

This role supports the migration and long-term sustainability of a safety?critical embedded software system used to analyze vibration data, by porting existing certified signal?processing software onto new hardware platforms without degrading performance or reliability. You will work on complex legacy code, embedded real?time environments, and certification?driven processes, acting as a key pillar between software, hardware, and systems teams.

The company designs and delivers embedded monitoring and measurement systems for highly regulated industrial environments where reliability, safety, and long product lifecycles are critical.

Description

• Analyze and understand existing embedded software used for vibration and signal processing
• Port and adapt certified software to new processors and embedded platforms
• Critically assess signal?processing modules (filters, coefficients, blocks) to ensure functional equivalence
• Develop, integrate, and maintain embedded software in a real?time, safety?critical environment
• Perform verification, testing, documentation, and reviews in compliance with industrial standards
• Collaborate closely with hardware, systems, and quality teams
• Contribute to long?term product continuity and knowledge retention within the team

Profile

• Embedded software engineer with experience in safety?critical or regulated environments
• Strong background in embedded C/C++ and real?time systems
• Solid understanding of applied signal processing, with the ability to analyze and validate existing algorithms
• Comfortable working with large, complex legacy codebases
• Experience with documentation, testing, and certification?driven development processes
• Able to use MATLAB or similar tools for signal analysis and validation
• Stable, curious, and pragmatic engineer seeking long?term technical ownership
