The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading not-for-profit, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School set in the French speaking part of Switzerland. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to join our team in a newly created role. As the first dedicated procurement resource, you will have the opportunity to build and shape procurement processes from the ground up. You will be responsible for establishing sourcing strategies, developing supplier relationships, and implementing cost-effective purchasing practices. Working closely with internal teams and external vendors, you will lay the foundation for a robust and sustainable procurement function aligned with our school's values.
Main responsibilities:
- Identify procurement needs and develop effective purchasing strategies. Develop a procurement policy accordingly.
- Implement the purchasing module of our ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central) and ensure its evolution over time.
- Source and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to optimise cost savings.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements; manage claims, warranties and returns.
- Set-up and implement a process to ensure accuracy of inventory and minimum stock level.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal departments to align procurement activities with school’s goals.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
- Collaborate closely with the accounts payables team to support their daily operations.
- Promote sustainability and environmentally friendly procurement practices.
Desired profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or Brevet Fédéral de Spécialiste Achat et Approvisionnement, or similar procurement qualification.
- Proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles with good command of dedicated software.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Ability to analyse data to assess performance and drive change.
- System minded individual with advanced skills in Excel; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a strong asset.
- Fluent in French with advanced skills in English (minimum B1).
- Strong team spirit with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Pragmatic, proactive and well-organised.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to work in a culturally diverse organization.
- Accountable, displaying a can-do attitude and the ability to proactively propose solutions when facing issues.
