Senior Linux Software Engineer (m/f/d)

As a first-tier supplier to our renowned business partner, Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, we are immediately seeking a motivated and dedicated Senior Linux Software Engineer for a temporary 12-month assignment with the possibility of extension.

Join an expert team that plays a crucial role in shaping the next generation of diagnostic systems. You'll work directly on the development and maintenance of the Roche Standard Linux Distribution, which serves as the core of numerous innovative medical products. Your passion for Linux and your technical know-how will contribute significantly to improving healthcare worldwide.

Tasks

• Act as a technical expert in medical instrument and software development projects.
• Develop and maintain the in-house Linux distribution and open-source tools.
• Perform troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis for Linux software and hardware.
• Contribute to the development of the hardware test farm and the Debian build tool Molior.

Must-Haves

• A Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification with at least 3 years of experience.
• More than 5 years of professional experience as a Senior Linux Software Engineer.
• Proven experience in developing customized Linux distributions (5+ years).
• Extensive development experience in React or Angular (5+ years).
• Strong expertise in Linux systems (specifically Debian/Ubuntu), gained over at least 5 years.
• A deep understanding of operating systems, software building, testing, and packaging.
• Strong team player with a proactive "can-do" attitude. You enjoy problem-solving, are a quick learner, and can work independently.
• Advanced English skills (C1 level), with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Kubernetes and Python.
• Knowledge of Debian package building.
• Experience in embedded software, hardware drivers, ARM platforms, and hardware/software integration.
• German language skills are a plus, but not required.
