SwissChips Project Coordination and Communication Manager
SwissChips is a multi-institution research initiative in the areas of chip design, microelectronics, and semiconductors. For this initiative, we are looking for a project coordinator and communication manager to support the Director, the Project Management Office, and the SwissChips community.
This is a fixed-term position, funded for the remaining duration of the SwissChips Initiative, until the end of 2027. The position is offered at 40% to 60%, depending on your interests, skills, and experience.
Project background
SwissChips is a 3-year research initiative supported by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and involves over 20 professors as well as 80 doctoral students and researchers from ETH Zürich, the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), and the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM). In order to coordinate the project and to communicate groundbreaking results and news with the general public, we are looking for a project coordinator and communication manager.
Job description
Your main responsibilities will include supporting the Director in overseeing the coordination, communication, dissemination, and events and outreach activities for SwissChips. You will act as the main person responsible for internal and external SwissChips communication, providing support to SwissChips PIs and researchers to document, track, and disseminate output, maintain and grow our communication channels with engaging content, organize events and outreach activities, and promote engagement with the public and industry. You will
- maintain the SwissChips website by posting engaging news items (technical and non-technical) and announcing news and achievements
- manage our LinkedIn channel
- solicit updates from the SwissChips community (research output, news items, etc.) and report on these regularly
- be responsible for internal communication with SwissChips community
- coordinate content for the annual technical report and other media or information
- act as the main contact for press, industry, and general public inquiries
- lead and support event and outreach activities, including supporting the organization of the annual SwissChips events with 200-300 participants
- support administrative tasks
Profile
We are looking for candidates that
- are proactive, detail-oriented, solution-driven, and able to work independently,
- have excellent organizational skills (workshops, meetings, calls, etc.),
- exhibit exceptional communication skills both in person and in writing (English fluency is essential, German is a plus), and
- have the ability to write clear, precise, and engaging scientific news and social-media articles,
- thrive in a dynamic, multifaceted, and complex environment, always maintaining a clear overview
Experience working within the Swiss research landscape and the ETH domain would be an asset. We will also consider other profiles, including those with experience in scientific writing, journalism, or online content management, and some combination of project coordination experience.
