The Risk and Middle Officer will work within the Middle Office and Risk team in a Crude and Products trading environment. Core duties will be to provide Trading desk and other stakeholders with a comprehensive and independent overview of the activity of the desk.

Our client is an Oil and Gas trading company based in Geneva.

Description

  • Ensure accurate and timely issuance of key reporting such as position, P&L and daily hedging to specified trading desks
  • Liaise daily with Trading, Operations, Back Office and other teams to quickly identify and solve any issues with the reporting
  • Provide analysis, commentary and breakdown of the key market drivers for P&L and market risk
  • Proactively engage with various business units and stakeholders to improve existing reporting, controls and process
  • Ensure operational compliance to agreed Risk and Control frameworks
  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure hedge allocation is in line with Bank Financing requirements
  • Perform ad hoc review and analysis of trading activities and financial results
  • Assist Quantitative team in setting up relevant stress tests an control metrics
  • Validation of forward market curves and independent validation of physical MtM and costs
  • Commercial review of longer term deals
  • Work with IT and other teams to ensure data quality within company ETRM and suggest improvements

Profile

  • University degree in a quantitative field
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Risk/Middle Office function with exposure to Crude and Refined Products
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Competent user of MS Excel and MS Power BI
  • Competent user of VBA. SQL and/or Python
  • Competent user of Reuters and/or Bloomberg
  • Background in Physical LNG Trading and Refined Products blending

  • Ability to interpret large data sets and draw logical conclusions

  • Able to work to tight deadlines and maintain independence and professionalism when areas of conflict arise
  • Handle day to day work challenges with confidence, willing and able to adjust multiple demands, to shift priorities
