At first, my experience at this nursing home seemed to be going quite well. I received a very warm welcome, the setting was beautiful, and my first impression was positive. I’d also like to highlight the professionalism and friendliness of the front desk and housekeeping staff. Unfortunately, my experience with the care provided was quite different. Hired as a nurse, I was very quickly offered the opportunity to take on more responsibilities, managing two floors as a head nurse. However, I discovered a work environment there that I found particularly challenging. In particular, I had to deal with a colleague working as a certified nursing assistant whose behavior struck me as very authoritarian; I felt she treated colleagues differently, which contributed to creating tension within the team. I had brought these difficulties to the attention of the head nurse, but unfortunately, I saw no improvement. My interactions with the nursing administration were also very disappointing. I personally felt they had a distant and haughty attitude, quite different from what I expected from leadership that fosters dialogue and a peaceful work environment. I ultimately decided to end my probationary period. It was impossible for me to envision a professional future in that environment, despite the appeal of the position and the responsibilities that had been offered to me. This is, of course, an account of my personal experience, but it left me with the impression of a facility that was pleasant in terms of its setting and some of its staff—an impression unfortunately marred by a work environment that I found deeply unhealthy within the healthcare sector.

There's no point in going to work

I didn't like working there. Honestly, it wasn't a good experience at all. The managers are really unpleasant, and the atmosphere is bad. You can feel the tension all the time, and it doesn't make you want to come to work. There’s a nursing assistant on the team who acts like she’s the boss, and on top of that, she trains the apprentices. She speaks in a bossy way, and in the end, everyone just does what she wants. As a result, everyone does pretty much whatever they want, and the organization isn’t good. The nurses are nice, but they don’t stick around, and honestly, I understand why. The only people I’ve found to be really great are the residents—they’re adorable, and it’s a shame for them because they deserve better. I don’t recommend this place as a place to work.
