What works well?

There is a network of “front-line” professionals from all walks of life who work together to ensure the care and well-being of patients, students, and people with disabilities. This diversity of professions is truly valuable and reflects the compassion and humanity dedicated to the well-being of those in our care.

What could be improved?

Despite numerous construction projects currently underway, it is a magnificent environment with spaces and areas that allow both residents and staff to live very comfortably there. Recently, a restructuring process has been initiated in the sector of socio-educational housing and specialized care (DHSE) with the integration of a sector called “day activities,” which includes an activities program, a day center, and specialists in personal development and adapted physical activities. These changes, announced by the department’s leadership, are undoubtedly necessary but are being implemented without consultation with frontline professionals. This is detrimental to the cohesion of the socio-educational efforts of the various professionals responsible for supporting the residents. This is all the more so given that, since the restructuring was announced, there have been layoffs and resignations, not to mention ongoing sick leave. In short, applicants should be aware that in this sector providing wellness and recreational services for residents, the atmosphere is gloomy, and the few professionals still on staff are struggling. While the new DHSE management “inherited” this issue from the management of the Socio-Professional Department—which never did anything to uphold the noble values of this sector—it would be well advised to listen more closely to the professionals on the ground who are directly affected.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for highlighting the diversity of our professions as well as the dedication of our professionals to serving the people we support. This is an essential aspect of our institution’s identity. We are aware that any reorganization can raise questions, concerns, and sometimes difficulties for the teams involved. The changes currently underway are part of our commitment to enhancing the quality of care provided to residents, while preparing for the future of our services. Contrary to what has been suggested, these changes have been accompanied by extensive support and dialogue with the affected staff members, through numerous individual and group meetings, participation in team conferences, and various opportunities for discussion. We are convinced that the success of any transformation also depends on listening, even though everyone may experience these changes differently. We are continuing this work with the teams and thank all the employees who dedicate themselves every day to the people in our care.

What works well?

The view from the restaurant is magnificent.

What could be improved?

My experience in the DSP sector has been disappointing, with a lack of trust and expertise. The high turnover, especially at the Eventail workshops, raises some questions!

Employer comment

17 April 2026

We have carefully reviewed your comment, though we regret that it is very general and particularly harsh. At the Institution de Lavigny, we set high standards for the quality of care, the skill level of our teams, and the work environment. Claims regarding a “lack of competence” or “trust” do not reflect the standards we set, nor the regular evaluations conducted among our beneficiaries, staff, and managers. We remain, however, committed to gaining a more precise understanding of individual situations. We invite you, if you wish, to contact Human Resources directly for a constructive discussion.

What works well?

I have been working at this institution for 10 years and am delighted with the working environment. The approach is human-centered and a top priority. The missions also give meaning to our daily work.

What could be improved?

The institution is expanding, and new challenges are associated with this.
