Key information

The WTO is looking to fill a temporary position of Systems and Operations Engineer. Located in Client Services Section in the Information Technology Solutions Division (ITSD) and reporting to the Acting Chief of Section, the incumbent will undertake the tasks assigned below. This is a 6-month assignment, which may be extended based on divisional needs. The selected candidate is expected to start their assignment in July.

The envisaged responsibilities for the temporary assignment are the following:

  • Providing day-to-day support and operations in the Section what is referred to as second level support of cases not possible to handle by our Service Centre in the context of Client Services.

  • Further leverage Microsoft 365 apps and services in the organization by assessing organizational needs, configuring core services, and preparing necessary guidelines and knowledge base articles to enhance productivity and collaboration. Measure success through user adoption rates, usage analytics from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, and employee feedback on productivity improvements.

  • As stated above: second level support and day-to-day operations for all services in the Client Services Section.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION

Education:

Advanced university degree in computer science, computer software engineering, or a similar field. Alternatively, a basic university degree in the aforementioned discipline combined with professional expertise equivalent to an advanced university degree may be considered.

Knowledge and Skills:

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge and experience in the the following areas:

  • ITIL processes especially Incident, Change, and Problem Management.

  • Microsoft 365 Apps and Services (Administration and providing technical support)

  • Microsoft SCCM infrastructure for image building of Windows 10/11, application packaging and deployment.

  • Microsoft Active Directory: Group, Admin and Service account management

  • Enterprise Communication Services and Exchange Online

  • LAN/WAN and Internet technologies as well as TCP/IP protocol.

  • Mobile Device Management

  • Printer Services

Behavioural Skills:

The incumbent must have the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a demanding situation and make sound decisions. The incumbent must be capable of working under stress and in an autonomous manner. The incumbent must have the ability to offer swift interim solutions while concurrently working on permanent resolutions to problems.

The following interpersonal capabilities are required:

  • ability to present technical facts to knowledgeable specialised audiences;

  • to persuade others to a point of view using facts;

  • to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues;

  • to communicate information in a clear way;

  • to make technical presentations;

Work Experience:

Minimum two years' relevant experience is required.

Language Skills:

Excellent knowledge of English, including an ability to write accurately and concisely (documentation, procedures, processes) and make presentations if requested. Advanced oral skills in French is also required.
