Our discreet client operates in the world of contemporary art. Projects, exhibitions, transports, insurances, fees, invoices, deadlines and VAT issues meet here in an international environment that is inspiring, demanding and not always organised by the book.

The role is fixed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The workplace is located in the near agglomeration of Basel and is very well accessible by public transport.

Your task:

You will independently take over the accounting and ensure that everything runs cleanly, on time and transparently in the background. Work is done with bexio. Collaboration with the external trustee is close, professional and important: you prepare, coordinate, clarify open points and keep the relevant threads together.

Your tasks include in particular:

• Financial accounting from A to Z
• Creditors, debtors, payment transactions and reconciliations
• Payroll and wage accounting
• Settlements and declarations to social insurances
• VAT returns in Switzerland and, depending on the business transaction, in the international context
• Preparation of documents for the trustee
• Contact with insurances, especially property, liability and transport insurances
• Monitoring deadlines, pending matters and accounting processes

What makes this position special

This is not accounting in a grey administrative apparatus. You work in a small, personal and international art environment where much is in motion and yet must function cleanly. Your superior is a charismatic, highly committed individual, often on the move and accordingly time-constrained. She therefore does not need someone who waits for every instruction, but someone who independently manages the area, recognises priorities and reliably completes tasks.

Particularly important is the ability to explain accounting contexts simply. You must not only keep numbers correctly but be able to translate them so that even people without a financial background understand what it is about, what decisions need to be made and why something is important.

Your profile

You have a solid education in accounting and bring practical experience in bookkeeping. You work precisely, discreetly, independently and proactively. Payroll, social insurances and VAT are familiar to you. Experience with bexio is a clear advantage.

• good understanding of VAT topics
• independent, structured and reliable working style
• high discretion and quality awareness
• the ability to explain financial topics clearly and understandably
• very good English skills spoken and written (working language)
• Swiss German for everyday life
• French skills are a huge plus
