- Permanent position
About the job
World leader in the production and sale of equipment for telecommunications cable installation and power transmission, Plumettaz SA has been building its success since 1923. Headquartered in Bex, we have subsidiaries in Singapore (SG), Chattanooga (USA), Gouda (NL) and Bad Bramstedt (DE). An innovative Swiss company with strong values, we prioritise efficiency, customer satisfaction and the well-being of our employees. To strengthen our design office and support the development of new equipment, we are looking for an Electrical / Electronics Engineer.
Electrical / Electronics Engineer
Your mission
Within the design office in Bex and in collaboration with the mechanical, automation and software teams, you will be responsible for the electrical and electronic design of our prototypes, from feasibility study to industrialisation. You define architectures, create schematics using EPLAN, organise and supervise the wiring of electrical panels, then ensure testing, commissioning and compliance of the solutions. As a reference for electrical safety issues, you ensure the application of standards and best practices, particularly for equipment operating up to 480 V.
Our electronic systems communicate notably via EtherCAT and CAN protocols, knowledge of which is an asset but not a prerequisite for this position.
You
With a higher education degree in electrical engineering, electrotechnics, electronics or a related field, you have proven experience in designing industrial equipment and electrical panels. You master EPLAN and know how to transform a functional requirement into schematics, bills of materials, wiring plans and usable technical files. Comfortable on site, you organise prototype wiring, support assemblers and carry out necessary checks and tests. Your in-depth knowledge of machine safety and electrical safety allows you to identify risks, define protective measures and ensure installation compliance. You are authorised and certified to work on equipment up to 480 V. Rigorous, pragmatic and autonomous, you enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team and innovative environments.
Your responsibilities
- Define the electrical and electronic architectures of new machines and their sub-assemblies, from prototype to production.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, layout plans, bills of materials, cable lists and manufacturing files using EPLAN.
- Size and select components: power supplies, protections, drives, motors, sensors, actuators, interfaces, cables and connectors.
- Define the layout and organise the wiring of electrical panels and prototypes, coordinating with internal assemblers and external partners.
- Provide technical support during assembly, control wiring quality and address identified discrepancies.
- Prepare and conduct electrical and functional tests, protection measurements, powering up and commissioning of prototypes.
- Perform electrical risk analyses and contribute to machine functional safety in collaboration with relevant specialists.
- Ensure design compliance with standards, directives and requirements applicable to targeted markets, notably in Europe and North America.
- Collaborate with mechanical, automation, software, production, purchasing and after-sales teams to ensure robust integration of solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, technical problem resolution and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Create and maintain the technical documentation necessary for manufacturing, testing, certification and maintenance of equipment.
Profile sought
- HES/EPFL engineering degree or equivalent higher education in electrical engineering, electrotechnics, electronics or industrial systems.
- Proven experience in electrical design of machines, industrial equipment or control panels.
- Excellent command of EPLAN Electric P8; knowledge of EPLAN Pro Panel is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electronics, power distribution, control, instrumentation and electromagnetic compatibility.
- Practical experience in organising, monitoring and controlling wiring of electrical panels and prototypes.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical safety, machine safety, risk analysis and functional safety principles.
- Valid authorisation or certification to work on installations and equipment up to 480 V.
- Knowledge of CE requirements and ideally North American standards applicable to industrial equipment.
- Ability to analyse faults, conduct tests methodically and propose reliable, industrialisable solutions.
- Autonomy, organisational skills, thorough documentation and ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
- Fluent French; operational technical English (minimum B2). German is an asset.
