About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading global biopharmaceutical manufacturing organization, is seeking a Senior Engineering & Maintenance Expert to support the readiness of a large-scale biopharmaceutical production facility in Visp.
This strategic role will play a key part in capital investment projects, acting as the engineering and maintenance representative throughout facility design, construction, commissioning, qualification, and start-up phases. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, ensure alignment between engineering and operations, and establish robust maintenance and engineering strategies that support long-term operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Engineering & Maintenance SME for major capital investment projects supporting the construction and commissioning of biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
- Provide engineering expertise during feasibility studies, conceptual design, and basic engineering phases, representing future operational requirements.
- Serve as the primary interface between engineering project teams, external contractors, and manufacturing operations.
- Define and implement engineering standards, qualification strategies, equipment standards, utility concepts, and maintenance frameworks.
- Support the deployment of engineering, commissioning, qualification, and asset management tools throughout the project lifecycle.
- Establish preventive and predictive maintenance strategies aligned with site-wide standards and operational excellence objectives.
- Collaborate with Operations leadership to define future organizational structures, workforce requirements, and facility readiness plans.
- Contribute operational and maintenance expertise to facility design reviews, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and cost-effective operations.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing performance and maintenance effectiveness.
- Participate in GMP and safety risk assessments, providing technical expertise and mitigation strategies.
- Support production and project teams on all engineering, maintenance, utilities, and facility-related topics.
- Act as a key member of the Engineering Leadership Team, contributing to strategic decisions and cross-functional initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in biopharmaceutical or GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise in engineering, maintenance, utilities, commissioning, qualification, and facility readiness.
- Experience supporting capital investment, facility expansion, or greenfield projects.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
- Fluent in English and German.
