The Swiss Data Science Center (SDSC) is a national research infrastructure in data science and artificial intelligence (AI). Its mission - to enable data-driven science and innovation for societal impact - drives its initiatives in research projects, knowledge and technology transfer, and education. With a large multidisciplinary team of professionals in Lausanne, Zurich and Villigen, the SDSC provides expertise and services to various domains, such as health and biomedical sciences, energy and sustainability, climate and environment, and large-scale scientific infrastructures. We seek a hands-on communications professional to support and deliver SDSC's communications and events activities. Working with the Head of Communications & Events, you will help execute communication plans, create content, manage digital channels, support media engagement, and coordinate event logistics.
You will collaborate with internal teams and partners to translate technical information into clear, engaging materials that enhance SDSC's visibility. We value a proactive, organized communicator with strong execution skills, creativity, and a collaborative mindset.
- Plan and deliver integrated communications strategies to strengthen SDSC's visibility, with special focus on Suisse Romande regional outreach and strategic domain support (Digital Society, Energy & Sustainability).
- Ensure clear, consistent messaging and collaborate with vertical leads and content owners to craft narratives on innovation, research, and impact.
- Act as Deputy Head of Communications & Events, supporting leadership continuity, operations, budgeting, and team coordination.
- Produce high-quality content, build up and manage media relations with focus on Suisse Romande.
- Maintain strong digital channels, brand consistency, and a steady content pipeline.
- Plan and deliver events and stakeholder engagements, managing logistics and partnerships.
- Strengthen internal communication, track performance through analytics, and support continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Humanitites or a related field.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in communications, with 2-3 years in managerial capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex or technical information clearly and effectively.
- Proven experience in event management and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience in managing media relations and public affairs.
- Proficiency in digital communication platforms, analytics tools, and content management systems.
- Fluent in English and French
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience within a technical, scientific, or research-focused organization.
- Familiarity with visual communication, design principles, or multimedia production.
- Knowledge of SEO, analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, LinkedIn Insights), and basic web publishing (CMS).
- Demonstrated success in brand development, reputation management, and event strategy.
- Basic level of German beneficial
