Le Département d’Astronomie de l’Université de Genève est un centre mondialement reconnu à la fois pour l’excellence de sa recherche, mais aussi pour ses importantes contributions au développement des futurs grands projets d’astrophysique, que ce soit depuis le sol ou depuis l’espace.
Dans ce cadre, nous sommes à la recherche d'un technicien-ne spécialiste en automation qui participera aux activités du laboratoire d'électronique du Département d'Astronomie.
The Department of Astronomy of the University of Geneva is a world-renowned center, recognized both for the excellence of its research and for its major contributions to the development of future large-scale astrophysics projects, whether ground-based or space-based.
In this context, we are seeking an automation specialist technician who will contribute to the activities of the Department of Astronomy’s electronics laboratory.
Il-elle prendra part aux activités principales et permanentes du département d'électronique, soit :
- la réalisation de système de contrôle sur PLC Beckhoff pour la fabrication d’instruments et de prototypes nécessaires dans le cadre des projets de l’observatoire
- la conception et la fabrication d’instruments astronomiques pour des télescopes et des satellites internationaux
- le travail en salle blanche et/ou les déplacement à l’étranger lors de missions d’installation et d’entretien
- la documentation technique et suivi de l'évolution technologique
- la participation aux tâches de service de l'observatoire
Titres et compétences exigés
- Diplôme de technicien ET en systèmes industriels, option automation et formation complémentaire étendue à plusieurs domaines connexes.
- Minimum cinq années d’expérience dans l’environnement PLC Beckhoff
- Excellente maîtrise de la programmation PLC en Structured Text (IEC 61131-3) et de l'environnement Beckhoff TwinCAT (orienté objet).
- Très bonne connaissance des bus de terrain : EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus…
- Bonne compréhension des composants industriels : variateurs, moteurs multiaxes, safety, E/S déportées…
- Bonne organisation personnelle, rédaction de documentation et suivi de projet
- Bonne faculté d'adaptation, capacité à travailler en équipe, flexibilité et prêt à effectuer des missions à l’étranger régulièrement
- Maîtrise du français(B2), bonne compréhension de l'anglais(B2), l’espagnol est un atout

He/She will take part in the main and ongoing activities of the electronics department, namely:
- The development of control systems on Beckhoff PLCs for the fabrication of instruments and prototypes required within the observatory’s projects
- The design and fabrication of astronomical instruments for international telescopes and satellites
Requirements:
- ET technician diploma in industrial systems, automation option, with extensive additional training in several related fields
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the Beckhoff PLC environment
- Excellent command of PLC programming in Structured Text (IEC 61131-3) and of the Beckhoff TwinCAT environment (object-oriented)
- Very good knowledge of fieldbuses: EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus, etc.
- Solid understanding of industrial components: drives, multi-axis motors, safety systems, remote I/Os, etc.
- Good personal organization, ability to write documentation and follow up on projects
- Strong adaptability, ability to work in a team, flexibility, and willingness to carry out regular international assignments
- Proficiency in French (B2), good command of English (B2); Spanish is an asset
- Ability to work in clean rooms and/or travel abroad for installation and maintenance missions
- Technical documentation and monitoring of technological developments
- Participation in the observatory’s service tasks
