Role:

On behalf of a client, we are seeking an experienced professional as a Construction Manager for demanding public building projects in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. You will take on independent construction management and coordination of larger building and renovation projects, ensuring their professional implementation while adhering to agreed cost, schedule, and quality targets. The focus is on managing contractors, technical coordination, construction administration, and collaboration with authorities and specialist engineers. The position combines operational site responsibility, technically demanding construction projects, and professional project management with a varied field of activity in public building construction.

Responsibilities:

• Independent construction management of larger public building projects with responsibility for operational implementation during execution and completion phases

• Coordination and leadership of all companies involved in the construction including work preparation, site organisation, and coordination of individual trades

• Creation and monitoring of construction programmes and schedules to ensure a coordinated and efficient construction process

• Cost control and construction cost management including verification of contractor invoices, change management, cost forecasts, and final accounts

• Quality assurance on site through regular execution checks, inspection of construction work, and monitoring of agreed quality standards

• Technical coordination with architects, specialist engineers, and specialists to clarify execution details and structural issues

• Coordination with authorities and public clients regarding permits, conditions, construction processes, and project-specific requirements

• Organisation and leadership of construction meetings including minute-taking, action item management, and follow-up of agreed measures

• Support of conversion, renovation, and renewal projects considering existing building fabric, operational conditions, and technical interfaces

• Execution of construction administration with suitable software for tenders, awards, contracts, measurements, and billing

• Monitoring compliance with relevant SIA standards, contract provisions, and applicable safety and quality regulations

• Organisation of construction handovers and project completions including defect recording, follow-up inspections, final documentation, and warranty work

Qualifications:

• Completed education in building construction, for example as a certified Construction Manager HFP, HF Technician in Construction Planning, Draftsperson EFZ specialising in Architecture, or FH Architect

• Several years of professional experience in independent construction management of medium to large building projects in Switzerland

• Solid experience in coordinating contractors as well as collaborating with authorities, specialist engineers, and clients

• Expertise in conversion and renovation areas and interest in demanding renewal projects

• Very good knowledge of Swiss SIA standards, especially SIA 118, as well as construction processes, tendering, and billing procedures

• Confident use of construction administration software for cost control, tendering, awarding, and billing

• Very good German language skills in speaking and writing for construction negotiations, meeting leadership, and technical documentation
