Your mission and responsibilities
Ensure the physical management of the MAH's heritage collection as a whole:
- Carry out scientific work and expert assessments useful for developing knowledge of the collection's objects and contribute to research conducted by the team.
- Manage the preventive conservation of the collection in all spaces where it is stored, exhibited, or transported.
- Oversee the coordination of team work within the framework of exhibitions and storage, as well as acquisitions of works or objects.
- Supervise restoration work necessary for the conservation, loans, and exhibitions of collection objects.
Manage the Unit organisationally, methodologically, administratively, and financially, as well as in terms of human resources:
- Develop managerial and cultural policies in collaboration with management.
- Manage the team in accordance with strategic and operational objectives, and conduct periodic reviews.
- Prepare the Unit's budgets and monitor compliance with financial processes.
Ensure the mission of protecting the MAH's cultural property collection:
- Represent the MAH within the cantonal cultural property commission.
- Monitor team training in cultural property protection and manage protection measures in case of crisis.
Your profile
- Hold a higher education degree (minimum master’s) in Conservation-Restoration, Art History, or any other higher education combined with equivalent professional experience. A specialisation in preventive conservation is a plus.
- Demonstrate proven experience in a responsible and strategic position, preferably in a cultural, artistic, or institutional sector.
- Demonstrate proven experience in managing a multidisciplinary team (minimum 5 to 8 years).
- Show creativity, innovation, and adaptability.
- Exhibit an authentic and pragmatic personality, with adaptability and change management skills, as well as the ability to innovate and unite teams around common projects.
- Have perfect command of the French language, both spoken and written, and ideally possess knowledge of German and English.
