Research and Database Secretary for the "Ecological Transition of the MEM Industry" project (50 to 60%, fixed-term project until the end of June 2027)

Your tasks
The machinery, electrical equipment and metals (MEM) industry is directly affected by the climate crisis. To achieve energy and climate goals, companies must use resources more efficiently and reduce their emissions. In this context, the challenges for trade unions are to preserve jobs and guarantee employees’ rights.

Employees covered by the MEM collective labour agreement (CLA) enjoy participation rights regarding the environment. To strengthen these, the associations Unia, Syna and Sec Suisse are organising a training cycle on the ecological transition of the MEM industry. Its aim is to impart basic knowledge about the climate crisis, the legal framework in the national and international context, as well as to highlight and discuss action perspectives within staff and company committees.

This project, funded by the MEM CLA continuing education fund, was launched in spring 2025. You will develop the training programme, produce a regular bulletin and organise the courses both substantively and administratively. Project website: https://industrie-zeroemission.ch.

Your background

• Holder of a university degree or about to obtain one, or comparable training
• Proven skills in targeted research and text writing
• Sensitivity to conveying material to various target groups
• Ability to establish plans and priorities over extended periods and skill in organisation
• Identification with the values of the founding organisations Unia, Syna and Sec Suisse
• Knowledge of climate issues, especially scientific, technical or legal, would be an asset
• Fluency in French or German, both spoken and written, and excellent knowledge of the other language. Some knowledge of Italian would be desirable
• Persevering personality, with initiative and team spirit
