Repair Engineer
The Repair Engineer Controller & Mechatronics is responsible for the professional analysis, diagnosis, repair, and testing of VAT control valves, controllers, and electronic assemblies at the Service Centre Switzerland. The focus is on the maintenance and fault analysis of VAT control systems and their electronic control units across various product generations.
In addition to solid knowledge in electrical and electronic engineering, they have a good understanding of mechanical assemblies to reliably identify and rectify faults in the overall system. They ensure high-quality, timely, and cost-efficient execution of repairs and contribute to the continuous improvement of repair processes and product quality.
MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES
- Analysis, diagnosis, and repair of VAT controllers, control devices, and electronic assemblies.
- Conducting fault analyses on electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems.
- Dismantling, assembling, and maintaining control valves, actuators, and associated mechanical assemblies.
- Performing inspection, calibration, functional, and final tests according to test specifications.
- Using measuring and testing equipment for systematic fault detection.
- Analysing causes of failure and documenting repair and test results.
- Supporting the technical evaluation of new and existing controller and control valve generations.
- Identifying recurring fault patterns and proposing improvement measures.
- Internal communication with Engineering, Quality, and other departments on technical issues.
- Participation in the VAT internal continuous improvement process (CIP).
KEY EXPERIENCES - What experiences lead to success in this position?
- Experience in the repair, maintenance, or servicing of electronic, electromechanical, or mechatronic systems.
- Good knowledge of electronics, electrical engineering, or automation technology.
- Experience handling measuring and testing devices.
- Ability to systematically analyse and rectify electronic faults.
- Technical understanding of mechanical assemblies and their interaction with electronic controls.
- Experience with servo, drive, or control technology is an advantage.
- Knowledge of reading electrical circuit diagrams and technical drawings.
- Analytical and solution-oriented thinking.
COMPETENCIES - What competencies lead to success in this position?
- Completed technical vocational training as an electronics technician, automation technician, mechatronics technician, electromechanical technician, or comparable qualification.
- Good knowledge of electronics and electrical fault diagnosis.
- Understanding of mechanical systems and their maintenance.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical circuit diagrams, technical drawings, and parts lists.
- Confident use of measuring and testing equipment.
- Independent, structured, and quality-oriented working style.
- Teamwork skills and good communication abilities.
- Good IT skills (ERP, MS Office).
- Good English skills for documentation and internal communication.
- High resilience, flexibility, and willingness to learn.
