Role:
Stable networks are the backbone of every modern IT system, and this is exactly where you come in. As a Routing & Switching Engineer, you are responsible for the entire network infrastructure from LAN to WAN to WLAN. Your expertise in firewall architectures and routing shapes the security and availability of the systems. With your experience, you help shape standards and pass on your knowledge purposefully.
Responsibilities:
You plan, implement, and operate the network infrastructure, ensuring stability, scalability, and high availability
You configure, operate, and continuously develop the firewall landscape
In complex incidents at 2nd and 3rd level support, you analyse the causes and resolve them sustainably
Furthermore, you competently advise internal stakeholders on network and security issues
You coordinate closely with system and security engineers to create an integrated overall architecture
Additionally, you maintain documentation, standards, and operational concepts and promote agile working methods and knowledge transfer within the team
Qualifications:
You have a completed degree in computer science or engineering at bachelor level or a comparable qualification
You bring several years of experience as a network engineer
You possess solid know-how in several areas such as VPN, switching, VLAN, DNS, certificate handling, and firewalls
Furthermore, you are confident with all relevant protocols including BGP and OSPF and understand system security in detail
You work independently, set clear priorities, and explain complex topics understandably to non-IT professionals
You also enjoy mentoring younger employees and communicate fluently in both German and English
