As a Software Architect, you take on a central role in a complex technical ecosystem that includes various platforms and components. In this role, you are responsible for the consistency of the entire ecosystem and make important decisions affecting multiple teams. You work closely with engineering teams and exercise a technical veto right on architectural decisions. Your task is to find technically sound solutions while gaining the approval of all parties involved. You are thus an important contact for product owners, business stakeholders and other areas to jointly resolve conflicts of objectives.
Responsibilities:
- You are involved early in the requirements process and highlight the development and operational effort associated with the various options
- In this role, you coordinate decisions on architecture, security and data residency with the internal compliance team
- As a Software Architect, you advise on the choice of suitable technology stacks, architecture patterns and providers for the various components and platforms
- You conduct cross-team design and architecture reviews and identify dependencies, duplicate logic and inconsistencies between modules and projects
- You determine which build-or-buy options are actually feasible after considering factors such as the provider’s deployment model, data residency and existing licences
- You maintain a lean, continuously developed set of common technical standards and documented architectural decisions
Qualifications:
- You have a university degree in computer science or a related field or a comparable professional qualification and experience
- You bring at least 8 years of experience in software engineering as well as proven experience in architectural roles or cross-team technical leadership
- You have sufficient practical experience with modern backend and web technologies to critically evaluate concrete implementation decisions
- You have solid experience with server-side GraphQL, including schema composition
- You possess good knowledge in data & analytics, data flows, cloud infrastructure and security
- You have fluent English skills, both spoken and written
