About the job
Quality Architect (m/f/d)
IT / Bern / Experienced Leadership / Permanent / 40% - 100%
What Awaits You
For this role, we are looking for an outstanding leader to guide and further develop the topic of quality and the Quality Community at Mobiliar. You will strategically shape software quality assurance, take on the technical leadership of the Quality Masters, and sustainably anchor modern approaches. In doing so, you create a balance between implementation speed, risk, and high software quality – together with IT architecture, software development, data engineering, and business.
A role with genuine scope for design: You do not take over a finished rulebook but help shape how quality will be conceived and lived at one of the largest IT locations in the Swiss insurance industry – at a time when AI and agentic workflows are fundamentally changing software development.
Your Impact with Us
As a Quality Architect, you are responsible for the quality strategy. You sustainably shape Mobiliar’s quality culture. Together with your peers, you anchor principles such as the test pyramid, "Quality by Design," and shift-left – in a Java/microservices environment as well as on our modern data platform, in the cloud, on-premises, and via CI/CD pipelines.
Leading Agentic Engineering. AI agents increasingly write, test, and modify code – you define what quality means in agentic workflows. What guardrails, review, and approval mechanisms are needed? How do we ensure traceability and test coverage when code is AI-assisted? How do we profitably use agents themselves in testing? There is much to shape here – and you set the direction.
Making Testing Effective Instead of Labour-Intensive: You drive test automation, contract and integration testing, data quality, and test data management forward and initiate the projects needed for this. This makes quality a natural part of the teams’ work – not just a step at the end.
Leading the Quality Community: As the technical leader for all Quality Masters, you are a coach, sparring partner, and moderator. You lead the community with clarity and enthusiasm, provide a common direction, and organise exchanges on experiences, learning areas, and best practices. You bring together different perspectives, handle conflicts constructively, and create a shared understanding of good collaboration. In doing so, you develop others and enable them to grow in their roles rather than being operationally in the foreground yourself.
Together with the Quality Masters, you further develop standardised, agile quality processes and ensure they are pragmatic, understandable, and practical for everyday use in the teams. Together with software development, you work out how metrics create transparency, support decisions, and strengthen responsibility. This way, quality becomes not only measurable but also tangible in everyday work.
Your Profile
- Higher education or further training in computer science or a comparable qualification
- Proven leadership personality with several years of experience in a technical leadership or management role in the quality environment – for example as QA Lead, Test or Quality Architect, Head of Quality Engineering, or Head of Quality Assurance
- Demonstrated strength in leading a community or subject area across team boundaries, developing people, and achieving impact without disciplinary authority
- Solid knowledge in the Java/microservices environment, with modern data platforms, in cloud and on-premises landscapes, as well as with CI/CD pipelines and modern test automation
- Genuine interest in AI-supported development and agentic workflows – and the willingness to actively shape this field from a quality perspective
- Experience in introducing and further developing quality processes, metrics, and governance in an agile environment (e.g., SAFe, Scrum)
- Communication at eye level: With your convincing and enthusiastic personality, you win stakeholders through arguments, transparency, and trust
- Fluent German and good English skills
Nice to have, but not essential:
- Practical experience with coding agents, AI-supported testing, or securing AI-generated code
- Experience with other technologies such as SAP, mainframe, or other standard software
- Certifications such as ISTQB (Advanced Level), SAFe, or comparable
- Experience with performance and security testing or chaos engineering
Working with Us
You lead the Quality Community and shape the quality strategy of one of the largest IT organisations in the Swiss insurance industry, thus taking responsibility for a future topic from the outset. Quality in agentic workflows has not yet been solved by anyone – here you can set standards.
Interdisciplinary, highly motivated teams await you. Together, we work in an open, experimental, and agile working environment.
