Deputy Director

As part of the commissioning of the future prison waiting area (ZAC), the Vaud Prison Service is seeking a deputy director to actively contribute to its implementation and ensure its operational management.

This role offers you the opportunity to participate in the construction of a new organisation, destined to play a key role within the criminal justice chain and the cantonal security system.

In close collaboration with the Security Directorate of the service, you will ensure the organisation and coordination of activities, the management of human, administrative and financial resources, as well as the supervision of the care of detainees.

You will also play a central role in collaborations with the criminal justice authorities, police services, penitentiary institutions and various partners essential to the smooth running of the structure.

• Contribute to the commissioning of the prison waiting area (ZAC), then ensure the organisation, coordination and management of activities, as well as the operational continuity of the structure.
• Manage human, administrative and financial resources, supervise staff and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and institutional frameworks.
• Guarantee security, detention conditions and management of special situations, particularly regarding discipline, transfers and placement in appropriate institutions.
• Ensure collaboration with various internal and external partners (criminal justice authorities, police services, penitentiary institutions, etc.). 
• Supervise the Martigny site.

• University degree or higher education deemed useful for the role.
• Additional training in management or proven experience in personnel management. 
• At least 10 years of experience in the penitentiary field, in an institutional environment or in a public or semi-public entity. 
• Ability to support change and contribute to building a new organisation.
• Interest in caring for a male prison population in pre-trial detention. 
• Dynamism, initiative and ability to cope with unforeseen events.
• Analytical mind, rigour and solution-oriented approach.
• Ability to unite, coordinate and network with various partners.

Our employment conditions require you to be Swiss or hold a C permit, be free of debt enforcement proceedings (an extract from the Debt Collection Office must be presented during the process) and have a clean criminal record.
