Role:
On behalf of the client, we are looking for an experienced professional as Senior Project Manager Road & Tunnel Construction for the overall management of complex public infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for demanding road, traffic and tunnel construction projects across all project phases and manage external planning and execution services. You will ensure quality, costs, deadlines and safety and coordinate authorities, engineering offices, specialist departments, and other project participants. The position combines technical overall project management with procurement, contract and project management and offers development potential towards deputy leadership responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Overall management of demanding road and tunnel construction projects from strategic planning and design to realisation and commissioning
Management of projects through the relevant SIA project phases and ensuring structured and economical project execution
Responsibility for costs, deadlines, quality, safety and project risks throughout the project duration
Coordination of engineering offices, specialist planners, authorities, municipalities, companies and private stakeholders
Leadership and management of external planning, design and construction management mandates
Conducting and supporting procurement and tendering procedures for planners, specialists and contractor services
Responsibility for project controlling, cost forecasts, scheduling and risk management as well as preparation of sound decision-making bases
Management of contract, change and supplementary claim management in complex infrastructure projects
Coordination of technical interfaces between road construction, tunnel construction, civil engineering structures, utilities, traffic and environment
Support of approval, authorisation and condition procedures as well as coordination with cantonal and municipal specialist departments
Preparation and leadership of project, steering and coordination meetings as well as target-group-oriented reporting to decision-making bodies
With appropriate experience, taking on deputy leadership responsibility as well as professional support and management of other project managers
Qualifications:
Completed studies as civil engineer or traffic engineer FH/ETH; alternatively comparable higher technical education with solid infrastructure project experience
Several years of professional experience in design and realisation of complex road, traffic or tunnel construction projects
Solid experience in overall project management as well as in cost, schedule, quality and risk management
Knowledge of Swiss procurement, tendering and contract law as well as relevant SIA and VSS standards
Experience in managing planning offices, specialists and executing companies
Business or project-related further training, for example in project management, is an advantage
Leadership experience or experience as deputy manager as well as very good German language skills
