Role:
On behalf of a client, we are looking for a qualified professional as a civil engineer specialising in structural design and structural engineering for an established Swiss engineering company in the field of building construction, structural design, and construction. You will contribute to the development of technically demanding and economically optimised structural concepts and take on static calculations, dimensioning, and structural verifications. The focus is on structural design from the preliminary project to the completion of the shell construction, checking technical planning documents, and interdisciplinary collaboration with architects, specialist planners, and executing companies. The position is suitable both for civil engineers with initial professional experience and for graduates who wish to develop towards project management in the long term.
Responsibilities:
Structural concept: Contribute to the development of statically, structurally, and economically optimised structural concepts for demanding building projects
Static calculations: Perform structural analyses, load assumptions, internal force calculations, and static verifications for various structural systems
Component dimensioning: Dimension slabs, columns, walls, beams, and other load-bearing components considering project-specific requirements
Concrete and steel construction: Work on reinforced concrete, concrete, and steel structures as well as structural connections and details according to the respective project
Structural design according to SIA: Support project work in the relevant SIA phases 31-53, from preliminary project to execution and shell construction acceptance
Static verification: Prepare structural safety and serviceability verifications according to applicable Swiss structural standards
Plan review and quality assurance: Check formwork, reinforcement, and construction plans for compliance with static calculations and technical specifications
Technical project documentation: Prepare and review static calculation reports, dimensioning documents, technical statements, and project documentation
Interdisciplinary coordination: Coordinate structural design with architects, building services planners, and other disciplines
Support project management: Assist with technical project organisation, scheduling, coordination, and handling of planning tasks
Construction supervision: Support technical clarifications, site meetings, and structural questions during the shell construction phase
Digital structural design: Use static and calculation software as well as CAD and BIM planning tools for efficient project processing
Qualifications:
Completed studies as a civil engineer ETH, FH or TU with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering
Specialisation or interest in structural engineering and structural design; initial professional experience is an advantage, graduates are explicitly welcome
Solid theoretical knowledge in structural analysis, strength of materials, structural analysis, and component dimensioning
Knowledge of Swiss SIA structural standards, especially SIA 260, SIA 261 and SIA 262, and ideally SIA 263
Experience with static calculation software, such as AxisVM, RFEM, SCIA Engineer or comparable applications, as well as basic knowledge of CAD and BIM processes is an advantage
Basic knowledge in the structural design of reinforced concrete and steel structures as well as reading and reviewing technical execution documents
Fluent German and English skills in spoken and written form for technical project work and interdisciplinary communication
