ORS operates four residential groups for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers (UMAS) on behalf of the Canton of Zurich.

At the Hinwil location, we offer space for up to 20 UMAS, distributed across two residential groups. The team, consisting of care and specialist staff, manages the organisation of daily life, supports the young people in their everyday concerns and promotes their development and integration. The specialists are also responsible for the administrative and social pedagogical case management of their up to six key clients.

Our dedicated team in Hinwil works collegially and values mutual support in the daily challenges of this demanding work. We accompany the young people on their path to greater autonomy and specifically prepare them to cope well with living independently and leading a self-determined life upon reaching adulthood.


To complement our team at the UMAS Centre Hinwil, we are looking for a social pedagogue at 80-100% to start immediately or by arrangement.

Your Responsibilities

• Scope for creativity: You actively shape the living and development environment of the young people and promote their independence and responsible living in view of adulthood
• Administrative responsibility: Take over the administrative file management for your key clients and provide close social pedagogical work with them
• Variety in everyday work: Collaboration with legal guardians, schools, sports clubs and many other partners
• Creativity and innovation: Organise group activities and contribute your ideas to enrich communal life in the centre
• Mastering challenging situations: Crisis intervention and conflict management are part of your duties as well as close social pedagogical work with the young people

Your Profile

• A completed education in social pedagogy, social work, psychology, educational sciences or a related field
• Practical experience working with young people is an advantage
• Interest and enjoyment in working with young people from diverse cultures
• Calmness in difficult situations and a high level of social competence
• Team spirit, sense of responsibility and ability to work independently
• Organisational talent and problem-solving orientation
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends
• Basic and user knowledge of MS Office applications
• Impeccable character (no entries in debt enforcement or criminal records)
