Junior Embedded Software Engineer 

At our development centre in Wil SG, we realise products for medium and large quantities and develop technologies for globally leading, future-oriented companies.

To support our Embedded Software team in the development of medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics as well as for general tasks in the field of software and firmware development, we are looking for you as a Junior Embedded Software Engineer.

Area of activity

As a Junior Embedded Software Engineer, you develop and implement software and firmware in a regulated environment for medical technology or industrial applications. You test your software using unit tests and support device commissioning.

You work in a team of highly qualified software engineers, embedded electronics specialists and firmware developers, typically in project tandems with senior engineers. Your motivation and structured way of working enable you to implement technological solutions efficiently.

Your area of responsibility includes:

• Participation in projects as a junior developer for embedded firmware/software
• Working from requirements, software architecture to implementation and testing, each in tandem with senior colleagues
• Communication with other team members and project management, occasionally also with customers on technical topics
• Implementation of new technologies and methods of implementation

Requirements

• Completion of a technical university degree (FH/ETH) and strong interest in embedded software
• You are proficient in C / C++ and another programming language (Rust, Python, Go, Ruby, ...)
• You are curious and always looking for new ways to improve or expand your efficiency and skills
• You enjoy familiarising yourself with new technologies, methods and subject areas
• You are interested in developing in a regulated environment (IEC 62304)
• You are characterised by structured and pragmatic work
• You communicate confidently in German and have good English skills

A plus is:

You have initial experience in one or more of the following areas

• in the field of medical software and firmware (IEC 62304)
• with embedded (bare metal and RTOS) systems
• in the field of agile development with hardware
• in the field of data analytics, computer vision or machine learning
• with control engineering
• with Linux
• automated tools (Gitlab CI, Conan, SonarQube, ...)
• AI-supported software development
