The funeral services, cemeteries and crematorium department of the City of Geneva (SPF) has the primary mission of providing, with dignity, funerals, burials and cremations for persons deceased within the territory of the City, the Canton of Geneva, as well as any person deceased in Switzerland or abroad. It assists bereaved families and manages cemeteries and funeral facilities made available.
To strengthen the management of the SPF we are looking for a
Funeral Organisation Manager 100% (Fixed-term Contract)
Your mission
- Manage the team of funeral advisers (recruitment, ongoing training, periodic evaluation, etc.).
- Carry out the team’s forward planning, check documents supporting the payment of allowances, collect absence requests and arbitrate them if necessary in compliance with current directives.
- Ensure optimal communication within the sector through regular meetings or other means and lead reflections on professional practices.
- Ensure the application and respect of standards, directives, service regulations as well as instructions, procedures, agreements and protocols.
- Ensure the proper delivery of services to families who call upon the SPF.
- Evaluate and respond to external correspondence and/or requests regarding funeral organisation and propose a response to the head of service.
- Manage relationships with external partners to the SPF, notably the application of partnership agreements.
- Monitor and prospect technological or other changes allowing improvement of services for various audiences.
- Assist management in evolving processes according to new services to be provided to families in the field of funeral organisation and guarantee a quality standard and updating of the sector’s referenced documents.
- Represent the sector’s theme, or even the Service, in the context of services to be provided to families or internal and external partners and respond to specific missions, within their field of expertise, at the request of management.
- Take part in management committee meetings.
- When necessary, perform the role of funeral adviser and participate in the team’s work, including during on-call duties (weekends/public holidays).
Your profile:
- Federal certificate or equivalent, in the social or human sciences field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in team management.
- Demonstrate listening skills and empathy and be able to cope with a demanding emotional context.
- Proficient in common computer software (Microsoft Office) and excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the public sector, experience in the funeral field, proficiency in SAP as well as fluency in another language (English, Italian or German) are assets.
You reside in the Canton of Geneva or in the authorised residential area.
