University Clinic for Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy

When it matters, you are right in the middle. In the emergency, triage and admission area of the University Psychiatric Centre (UPZ) Bern, you are a central interface between patients, relatives, medical professionals and external referrers. You coordinate planned and emergency referrals, ensure a professional admission and make sure that relevant information is processed completely, correctly and promptly. In doing so, you combine administrative precision with empathy and a keen sense for the special requirements of a dynamic psychiatric environment. A responsible and versatile task where your organisational talent and communication skills are in demand every day.
Your tasks
- You are responsible for the administrative preparation, processing and follow-up of planned and emergency referrals and ensure timely and complete case opening in the clinical information system
- You collect and process admission data and referral documents, maintain patient records and ensure correct and complete documentation in the clinical information system
- You clarify incomplete or unclear referrals in cooperation with the medical service and external bodies and contribute to the implementation of the defined admission management
- You inform and advise incoming patients and their relatives and ensure a professional admission together with the involved specialist departments
- You process incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails and documents and work closely with various professional groups during handovers and in cooperation with adjacent units
- You contribute within your competencies to the receipt and execution of medical orders
Your profile
- You have a commercial or nursing basic education and bring solid experience at the interface between administration and healthcare
- Ideally, you have experience in the psychiatric environment or emergency admission and are familiar with the special requirements of a dynamic and demanding patient contact
- You work independently, structured and carefully and can prioritise even with complex or time-critical referrals
- You communicate confidently and appropriately with patients, relatives, medical professionals as well as internal and external bodies
- You have a strong sense of responsibility and work reliably and discreetly with confidential data
- You enjoy a versatile interface function and work constructively with different professional groups
- You are proficient in handling digital applications and quickly familiarise yourself with new IT systems and work processes
- You have very good German language skills in spoken and written form; any additional language is welcome
